Q: How is footage captured?

We have two options: we can either travel and film professional cinematography in the comfort of the subject's home (highest quality), or interview remotely. In both options we gather and digitize photos and archival film/videos to create the professional documentary edit.

Q: How long is the finished film?

We offer three options: 30 min, 25 mins, and 20 mins finished and polished! With every option we also deliver the full raw interviews as well!

Q: How long does the process take?

In person shoots can be one or two days depending on the package. Our remote option can be captured in one day. After the shoot is completed, post production is 4 weeks.

How does Legacy film production work?

How is footage captured?

On location, with a Votary director and a two-camera cinema crew — usually in their home, or a place that matters to them. Before we film, we hold a story call to map the chapters of their life. On the day, we film the anchor interview, then gather photographs and keepsakes at an archive table so the film can show their life, not just tell it.

How long is the finished film?

It depends on the edition: about 10 minutes for The Portrait, about 15 for The Cinematic Edition, and about 25 for The Heirloom Premiere. Every edition also includes the full, uncut interview, so every story they told is kept.

How long does the process take?

Filming is one directed day for The Portrait and The Cinematic Edition, and up to three days for The Heirloom Premiere. Once filming wraps, your finished film is delivered in 6–8 weeks, including two rounds of revision.
